The Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa by English Lakes Hotels in Windermere, Cumbria has an amazing opportunity for an experienced Head Chef to lead the Windermere Restaurant kitchen team and be fully involved with the launch of a brand new menu concept, with refurbishment development of the Restaurant scheduled winter 2021. Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa is a multi-function resort, with 131 bedrooms, two restaurants, and conference & banqueting for 300 diners.

As Head Chef of the Windermere Restaurant you will... 

Ensure that the highest quality of food is prepared and served brasserie style for dinner and full plated breakfast, afternoon teas, conference luncheons, lounge day food with room service 24hrs.

Monitor overall quality, cleanliness and cost control across the kitchen and associated areas as required through food safety management systems.

Deliver and achieve the company budgets and gross profit margins for the kitchen

Inspire, lead, coach and mentor the kitchen team of 20 to ensure they achieve their maximum potential, couple with mentoring our academy chefs in partnership with the group academy chef.

Lead and support the Banqueting senior chef and with his team ensuring excellent for all our wedding/events and group celebrations some 100+ in a year. 

Lease, support and able to work with the Head Chef of Blue Smoke on the Bay and his team of 9, ensure one cohesive food operation.

Become an active role in the overall management team, aiding growth and development of the resort as a whole

Be forward thinking and timely planning, ensuring working hand in hand with front of house teams, with the overall goal of ensuring excellent and great hospitality.


About You:

Previous Head Chef experience required within a quality hotel 4 star plus operation (or similar) to include restaurant, room service, bar menu and banqueting/events

Able to demonstrate strong leadership and mentoring skills

Confidence to communicate with other chefs and the wider team

Proven experience of building, leading and developing a brand concept throughout all food operations.

Able to work flexible hours

Forward thinking and methodical planning, proven record of working hand in hand with front of house teams, ensure one successful food service operation.


Contract will cover working five days over seven days on a 45 hour contract with 28 days holiday £40k per annum

Accommodation - This is a live out position, however relocation short term accommodation can be provided for the right person.
